In this chapter, I consider what spectacularized site dance work overlooks when placed in public parks and squares. I explore how such work might, unwittingly contribute to more coercive strategies that figuratively and practically place less palatable urban actualities such as homelessness and social exclusion at the peripheries of dominant urban (promotional and touristic for example) narratives . To this end, I explore the intrinsically performative nature of urban public spaces and their function as stages for ‘everyday’ performances invoked by design, function and regulatory conditions
